Smith Automation was formed to bring both the leaders and highest quality solutions in the Electrical Automation business to the Industrial markets in Ohio, Indiana, Kentucky, and Michigan.  Combining more than 25 years of experience in Industrial Automation including Variable Speed Drives, Motors, Cabling, HMI’s, Control, Safety, PLC, and Power Supplies through Distribution, OEM, and End User sales channel.  Smith Automation brings strong Sales and Support to the market with 2 Territory Managers, a New Business Development Manager, and a Sales Assistant.


Out of College, Neal Smith worked for 2 divisions of Mitsubishi Electric (Mitsubishi EDM/Laser & Mitsubishi Electric Automation). During that time he gained knowledge of the Machine Tool and Industrial Automation markets. He then moved from the Chicago area to make the Indianapolis area his home in 2005. Neal began his Career in Sales working for Dart Controls in Zionsville, IN as a Regional Sales Manager. During his approximate 6 year time with Dart Controls, Neal covered the Western half of the US learning the aspects of Sales and managing several Rep firms. In 2011, Neal decided to launch Smith Automation. Smith Automation began with 3 Principals and has grown its number of product lines as well as customer relationships.


Our goal is to be the Premier Manufacturer’s Rep firm of Industrial Automation solutions including Variable Speed Drives, Motors, Cabling, HMI’s, Control, Safety, PLC, and Power Supplies in the Midwest, USA.
